MSF Germany is looking for three members for its Supervisory Board to be elected at its next annual general assembly on 16 and 17 May 2025. The regular three-year term of its current members is coming to an end.
The Supervisory Board consists of three members elected for a period of three years by the general assembly. The following areas of expertise should be covered by the members (each member at least one area) to ensure that the knowledge, skills and professional experience required for the performance of the tasks are fulfilled:
- expertise in the medical-humanitarian field with medical training background
- expertise in the operational management and strategic leadership of larger organisations
- expertise in commercial and financial management
The Supervisory Board has predominantly a monitoring and advisory function to the Board of Directors, for example, on the strategic direction or on budgetary issues. The Board of Directors itself has appointed a full-time management team to coordinate and manage ongoing business activities. The members of the Board of Directors and the Supervisory Board work on a voluntary basis.
All candidates should be fluent in English, in addition, the member with the commercial/ financial expertise also in German. Members of the Supervisory Board do not have to be members of the association and can be located anywhere in or outside Germany (but will have to attend at least two face-to-face meetings in Berlin annually).

In order to enable the Supervisory Board to monitor and to provide independent advice to the Board, the Supervisory Board may only include independent members. A member of the Supervisory Board shall be considered independent if she or he has no business or personal relationship with the Association which constitutes a conflict of interest (see statues §7(4)). Members of the Supervisory Board may not exercise any executive or advisory functions in other parts of the international network of MSF or in associations with a similar association purpose. The last permanent position in the international network of MSF must be at least 2 years ago. The exercise of a Supervisory Board mandate is incompatible with a political mandate.
